"Sam I Am"

Description: "Paige gets to know the whitelighter in her, when she meets her first charge, a man named Sam. Unbeknownst to her, Sam is actually her real father. Meanwhile, Cole rashly tries to get himself vanquished by The Charmed Ones. Piper and Leo have problems in finding a magical creature that does the babysitting part. Things go bad to worse when they're poisoned by a darklighter, leaving Sam as the only one that can save them."

Paige has fully come to embrace her witch side, but is she quite ready to fully embrace her whitelighter side? She seems to think so, until she has a difficult run in with her first charge and father. It was sad that Sam thought he wasn't good enough to call himself Paige's father, and didn't want her to know how much of a failure he thought he was. Losing Patty Halliwell to the water demon was the worst thing to ever happen to Sam, and so soon after they gave up their only daughter together, really put him over the edge. Apparently when we saw Sam die last time ("P3 H2O" Season 2), he was made a whitelighter again by the elders. I fully believe that maybe Sam would have liked it better if he could have stayed dead with Patty, but I guess the elders had different plans. Paige definitely is a natural whitelighter because she was good at it before she even knew who Sam really was, but Paige did more healing for Sam this episode than anyone would have ever thought possible, and she didn't need her whitelighter powers to do it either. This episode also marked Cole's downward spiral into self destruction, because he has given up on living since he now knows there's no chance he'll ever get Phoebe back, and Phoebe is his only reason for living. In the end, the person I feel the most sorry for is Cole, because Phoebe has other chances to put all this behind her and move on with a normal life, but without Phoebe, Cole has no normal life and he refuses to be evil. Those Avatars were a bit weird, and they seemed to know something about Cole that even he didn't know. I'm glad that in the end Cole decided he didn't want anything to do with them, because I'm not going to give anything away, but they pose a huge problem two years from now. The Charmed Ones are stumped now, because Cole is going to keep doing things to make them mad enough to want to vanquish him, but apparently he's indestructible. I don't know what kind of freaky powers he picked up in the realm he was in, but something happened to him that is completely unnatural. Speaking of indestructible, to quote Piper, "Apparently, the baby likes Mommy to be indestructible." I don't think they have to worry at all about Piper's safety while she's pregnant, because the baby has more than proved itself capable of protecting Piper from anything. It's just everybody else in the family they have to worry about, especially when darklighters are involved and half of the family are whitelighters. Good thing that Sam was there, or Leo and Paige wouldn't be here right now. It was great to see Paige and Sam reconnect after all these years, but unfortunately this is the second and the last time we'll ever see Sam on the show. For some reason, the producers didn't find it necessary to continue that storyline. Sam will definitely be missed by the whole Halliwell family! "May the power of three set you free!" Keep reading and watching!

Peace, Love, and Charmed!
