"Apocalypse Not"

Description: "When a vanquishing spell goes awry while the Halliwells try to destroy the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Prue and one of the Horsemen become trapped in a vortex. Piper and Phoebe enlist the help of the three remaining Horsemen to free Prue and the fourth Horseman before the vortex closes, and both are killed."

This is a momentous occasion in my blog because not only is it Halloween (Happy Halloween to all of my faithful readers), but it's also the 50th blog post!!!! I cannot believe that I have kept up with this for so long. Through two very long breaks, I'm back to hopefully finish it once and for all. Okay now back to the most recent episode of Charmed. If a building was burning down and you could either choose one sibling or three strangers to save, who would you save? For the Charmed Ones this seemed like such a no brainer, of course they would say their sister. But by the end of the episode, they learned that when you're the greatest force of good out there, you sometimes have to be willing to lose someone you love for the greater good. Unfortunately in this episode, Piper and Phoebe had to learn that the hard way when they almost vanquished their sister. This was also the first time that I realized Phoebe can really stay strong during a crisis and Piper not so much. Piper was the one who lost it when she thought they had vanquished Prue, and Phoebe was the one reassuring her. I was glad to see Leo comforting Piper also. They have such a strong relationship, and it's really good to see them showing that to everyone now. Speaking of Leo, he was downright furious when Piper and Phoebe were going to work with the enemy to save Prue. He wanted Prue back as much as they did, but he didn't want to lose them either at the cost of trying. Leo may have come off as a little harsh to new viewers, but to us who know and love him, we know that he was just afraid of possibly losing Piper. Go team Leo! By the mid-episode though, it was almost like the sisters were forming alliances with the horsemen. They were working together peaceably with little arguing, and were surprisingly able to save their counter parts. Leo being the over protective whitelighter/boyfriend that he is, ended up following one of the horsemen back to head quarters to see what he was up to. I was surprised though that when the horsemen figured out Leo was there, he didn't have security go after him. You might be skeptical at times, but sometimes evil can really surprise you. In the end, Prue was reunited with her sisters, the 4 horsemen were vanquished, and the world didn't end due to a huge apocalypse. My favorite quote of the episode is when Phoebe says, "We just saved the world from destruction, the least we can get is a thank you." "May the power of three set you free!" "Astral Monkey"

Description: "The doctor that treated Piper when she was critically ill, discovers and gains the Halliwell's powers. After being twisted by the magic now within him, he goes on a sadistic organ-harvesting spree, targeting criminals in the streets."

Dr. Williamson is back and this time with a motive! If readers of this blog don't remember who he is go back and read my post "Awakened." Dr. Williamson has gotten to the point where he's almost obsessed with finding out how Piper survived Arroyo Fever. It's gotten to the point where it's just plain unhealthy. I agree with the sisters though; it's creepy and a bit annoying for him to keep sending Piper letters. I just want to say, "Give it up!" I felt bad for him though because he got into it not knowing what he was getting into. I was surprised though how upset about it that Piper got. They lose innocents sometimes but it's never seemed to bother her as much as it did this time. Those monkeys were down right adorable though! And I love how they not only acquired the Halliwells' powers, but seemed to almost get their personalities also. Especially when the Piper monkey threw itself at Leo, I thought that was precious. I also found it sad that Dr. Williamson's sister was dying from Kidney failure and he felt helpless to help her. That makes me feel better that he wasn't hurting those people just to hurt them, he felt that if his sister didn't have the chance to live than people who do bad shouldn't either. Which makes sense in a twisted way if you think about it. I don't condone what he was doing, but no matter how much you want to disagree with it you have to admit he did it all for the right reasons. It was sad that he had to die in the end but as Prue and Phoebe say on numerous occasions, "You can't save everyone." I was glad to see that Leo and Piper's relationship is still going strong despite hardly ever getting a chance to spend time together. I laughed so hard when Phoebe was going through Piper's closet looking for something and Leo orbs in thinking it's Piper leans over and says, "Have you ever done it on a cloud?" And Phoebe looks over her shoulder and says, "Does a feather bed count?" It just goes to show you have to have a healthy sense of humor to survive the Halliwell family. I'm proud to see that Prue and Phoebe are willing to let the little annoyances of having Leo around just pass by in order for their sister to be happy. That's pure family love right there. "May the power of three set you free!" Keep reading and watching!

"Ex Libris"

Description: "The sisters must find a demon responsible for the murder of one of Phoebe's classmates. Meanwhile, Dan discovers that Leo was previously married, and decides to take matters into his own hands. While Prue attempts to help a man who is looking for a witness to his daughter's murder."

Demon's must not be very stealthy and illusive if a mortal can find proof of their existance so readily. My question is, how do you just come to the conclusion that you think demons are real? Is it just me or does that seem a bit questionable? I found it funny how at first Charlene didn't know she was dead and just thought it was a headache and she wasn't feeling well, but on the other hand sad because she had such a bright future ahead of her and it was all ruined because she knew a little too much. Okay Dan, talk about desperate! You and Piper just broke up and now you're already trying to get Piper to second guess her relationship with Leo. I love how he was like, "I'm not trying to come off as the jealous ex it's not like that." I'm like, uh duh it's like that! You wouldn't be trying to dig up dirt on Leo if you had never dated Piper. And how DARE Dan ever lay a hand on Leo. Piper handled it really well considering she still cares a lot about Dan, but if it was me I would have sent him into oblivion! I thought it was really sweet how Piper didn't freak out about the fact that Leo was once married, and instead went to Lillian's house to talk about how great of a guy Leo "was." Lillian seems like she really did genuinely love Leo and is greatful for the time they got to spend together. It just made Piper see how much she really loved Leo for how caring and sensitive he is. I felt really bad for the guy who was trying to find a witness for his daughter, Tyra's, murder. You can tell he really loved his daughter and still does, if he's willing to sit on the bench all day every day trying to find just one person who will stand up to the murderer. I bet it's hard for the sisters to see a father who actually cares about his daughter opposed to their father who they never see or hear from. I'm glad that in the end it all worked out, but it would have been ideal if it had never happened in the first place and that man could still have his daughter. Grief is hard to deal with especially if it's for someone you really love like your child. "May the power of three set you free!" Keep reading and watching!

"Chick Flick"

Description: "When the demon of illusion brings invincible characters from old B-grade horror movies to life in an attempt to kill the Charmed Ones, their greatest ally is Phoebe's childhood crush; an old movie character."

What would you do if the characters from your favorite horror movies suddenly were attacking you in your own house? I myself LOVE horror movies, but wouldn't want my fear to become a reality. My favorite quote in this whole episode is when Piper is hiding in the shower and she goes, "I'm running from psycho killers and I hide in the shower?!" It was so hilarious. It's awesome seeing Piper and Leo trying to make it work now, opposed to running from their true feelings. I don't agree with the writers of the show when they call it Piper and Leo's first real date. Back in season 1, we never saw it but I'm sure they went on dates, since I know they slept together and Piper doesn't seem like the person who would sleep with a guy before she even went out with him. I may be just drawing unseen conclusions but that's just how I feel. Phoebe just jumped a huge amount on the cool scale in my opinion since she loves scary movies. She does seem like the kind of person who would, but for some reason no one ever expects it. And Phoebe is by far the biggest romantic out of the three sisters. Throughout all 8 seasons of this show (talk about jumping the gun) Phoebe is always the one who's constantly looking for her one true love. I'm not going to give anything away, and if you're veterens of the show you know what I'm talking about, but Phoebe will very soon find the guy she's looking for. But as in the relationship with Leo and Piper, being a witch doesn't make for the easiest love life. I have to give the producers some credit though, they sure are getting creative with their demons. The demon of illusion is definitely a new one, and the idea that he creates mayhem in society through movies is ingenious! What confuses me is that most demons that the sisters have come across so far have been out to get them specifically, but the demon of illusion only wanted the Halliwells dead once they started interfering with his work. I guess that just goes to show that maybe the Charmed Ones aren't in the "Demon's Guide to San Francisco." People who aren't new to the show will appreciate that reference to a future episode. I'm gonna jump the gun a little bit again, but doesn't it seem like everytime Piper and Leo are spending any time together the elders always call Leo away? If you haven't been noticing this than it's okay, but this fact will become more important in Season 3. "May the power of three set you free!" Keep reading and watching!

"How To Make A Quilt Out Of Americans"

Description: "A group of three elderly witches, one of them a close friend of the Halliwells' grandmother, summon a demon to restore their youth. However, in return, the demon wants the powers of the Charmed Ones."

I understand the desire to want to be young again, especially if you are suffering and/or dieing, but to turn against people who have always been like your family to you is just wrong. Not to mention it's a big no no where personal gain is concerned. I feel bad for Gail, I really do, but I put my family first so it's hard for me to understand when not everybody else does. Not to mention how many other people they soiled by skinning them in order to summon Cryto. I know the people were already dead, but that's still degrading not to mention disgusting. I wonder what Grams would say if she knew what Gail was doing? I sympathized with Phoebe in this episode when it came to her not wanting glasses. I myself have to wear glasses, but I refuse to unless I'm driving. I was glad to see that by the end of the episode she had come to terms with the fact she had to wear them. The writers never went more into what giving up your soul to the demon actually entailed. Since Cryto was turning all these people young again and then just letting them go. If he had their soul wouldn't he keep them prisoner or something? That was never made very clear in this episode. Poor Dan! The dreaded moment that Piper was trying to avoid has finally come to a head. In all honesty, I might not like Dan but I'm not heartless. He might have gotten EXTREMELY annoying at times, but you could still tell that he cared deeply for Piper. Don't mess with Destiny is the lesson Dan had to learn the hard way. He took the news better than I expected he was going to. It turns out he already was anticipating it, because Piper is a horrible liar and he could sense something was going on. I can't wait to have Leo back as a regular on the show. Now that him and Piper are back together it should be smooth sailing from here, right? WRONG! I'm not going to give anything away, but just because Dan is out of the picture doesn't mean other obstacles won't stand in their way in the future. "May the power of three set you free!" "Murphy's Luck"

Description: "After Prue prevents a woman from committing suicide, a darklighter puts a curse on her that throws her into a depression that could cost her life. And Piper tells Leo something he's been waiting to hear for a long time."

All I have to say is it's about freaking time! Every single time that I watch this episode I jump up and down, scream, and cry all at the same time when Piper first tells Leo that he's the one she really loves and wants to be with. In the end, the person I always feel bad for the most is Dan though. It's never easy to be the losing point in a love triangle, but he had to learn sooner or later. I guess the writers of the show figured they had made viewers wait long enough. I found it hilarious how Leo found it difficult to be patient once she told him. If I were Piper, I would have waited till I told Dan and ended things before I told Leo, but I guess because of the situations she thought it would be best. I don't know though, Dan sounds like he's got some intuition about him, because when he called Piper he sounded like he had been sensing Piper was pulling further away from him. For the people who actually like Dan, don't worry he will continue to be in the show up until the season 2 finale, which is quickly approaching! Speaking of feeling bad about people, poor Maggie Murphy. Too bad we will never find out if she eventually does become a whitelighter, but at least she didn't wind up as flattened guts on the side of the road. Prue did her good samartian deed of the day by saving that woman's life. Even little of what we saw of the good that Maggie does, she deserves to live if she can continue helping people the way she does. No one good like that deserves to die, let alone feel like they should die. Another reason to hate darklighters, besides the fact they are always trying to kill Leo for one reason or another. "Give Me A Sign"

Description: "Phoebe helps Piper cast a spell in order to help her choose between Dan and Leo. Meanwhile, Bane is broken out of jail and kidnaps Prue to force her to use her powers to save him from powerful demons that are after him."

Watchers of the show might recognize Prue's kidnapper. If you don't, go back and read my blog entry "Ms. Hellfire" because he was the guy that hired the hit woman to kill the Charmed Ones. You might be thinking, he was thrown in jail what could he possibly still want with the Charmed ones, revenge? No, not quite. Bane is in trouble, and for some strange reason he expects the same people he wanted dead to help him. Hmm, seems illogical? You're right, but for some reason Prue believed it, and in the end wound up feeling sorry for him. This demon, Litvak, also gave the sisters something new to think about. This is the first time throughout the show that The Source was mentioned. The girls don't know it yet, but The Source will soon be their biggest worry, even more than their personal lives which seem to be taking presedence at the moment. Speaking of personal lives, what you all have been anxiously waiting for, the huge turning episode of Piper and Leo's relationship. Granted, this isn't the episode that the big show down happens in (that's the next episode ;) but this is the leading factor of it. Finally, (and I can sit here and repeat FINALLY another 10 times) Piper has realized that she needs to give it another chance with Leo. The writers of the show don't come right out and say it, but it's implied at the end of the episode when the sisters are sitting in P3 and Prue and Phoebe ask if the spell did any good in helping her choose and Piper says, "I didn't need a spell to know who my true love is," and then looks up at Leo and smiles. Ahhh! That moment always gets me no matter how many times I have seen this episode (and it's been ALOT). I won't go that much further into it because that's what next blog post is for....Stay tuned! Another note on the Bane case. The producers never went into why Litvak wanted Bane dead so badly. I mean, the reason Bane was thrown in jail was for money laundering, and the demon that hired him to kill the Charmed ones the first time was Barbus not Litvak. So that is always a big question mark for me whenever I watch this episode. If you guys can watch this and figure it out message me and let me know. "May the power of three set you free!" "Pardon My Past"

Description: "Phoebe experiences flashes of one of her past lives when she and her sisters were cousins in the 1920s. However, in this past life, Phoebe was evil and power mad and a curse was bestowed upon her that could affect future Phoebe's life."

Why does it seem like everytime the sisters time travel they're going to save Phoebe. It almost seems like Phoebe is a trouble magnet, and she doesn't cause any of the problems they're just effecting her present life. I praise the producers of the show for doing such a creative idea for an episode. I love how they touched upon the subject of past and future lives and how their reprecussions can interfere with present lives. That's not always an easy thing to do, and you have to have a good idea or it just comes out like crap. I found it quite interesting seeing the sisters and their relationships with other people in their past lives. I mean the Halliwells have had their ups and downs but they've never tried to kill eachother. The one thing I don't agree with about the writing of this episode, is making Dan the husband of Piper's past life. That is such a wild card to throw in there, but I guess it would have thrown the viewers off if Leo was her husband instead of her former love, even though it correlates with her present life. It also might have gotten viewers prematurely anticipating Leo and Piper getting back together, when it still doesn't happen for a couple more episodes. Dan is still bugging me with how concerned he is about Leo. If I could say one thing to him it would be, "Do you realize how your interfering, asking questions, and nosing around is affecting Piper? If you really care deeply about her (I refuse to use the "L" word), then you would just trust that she knows what's best for her and leave it be. Piper has a strong head on her shoulders and she has very good instincts, and if you can't trust that then you're a bigger a** then I originally thought you were." And that is honestly how I feel. As much as I LOVE the Piper and Leo relationship, I just want to see Piper happy. If Dan is the man to make her happy then fine, but he obviously isn't if she keeps second guessing breaking up with Leo. "May the power of three set you free!" Keep reading and watching!

"Animal Pragmatism"

Description: "A group of lonely mortal women at a University cast a spell that turns three animals into men, who wreak havoc on the city. Meanwhile, Prue adjusts to life being unemployed."

Happy Valentines to the Charmed Ones, whether they like it or not. I find it quite funny how Piper was like, "Don't we get one day off a year?" No rest for the weary, although with all the lives they save on a daily basis they should get at least a day off. Now the roles are reversed when it comes to Prue and Phoebe. When the show started, Phoebe was the one with no job and staying at home all day doing nothing, and now Prue knows how it feels. I think Phoebe had an easier job of it though, but Prue is so used to going going going, that sitting still and doing nothing is really killing her. Now that Leo is back in the girls' picture, it's getting harder and harder for Piper to deal with Dan. The one thing that I have never liked about Dan is that he's very jealous and selfish about Leo and Piper, and he makes it hard for Piper to be with him and makes her feel bad. As each episode goes by, you see the inner struggle that Piper goes through choosing which man to be with. (I can almost see the wheels in you guys' heads spinning) ;) I'm not giving anything away you're just going to have to stay tuned. You have to be pretty desperate for a date for Valentines' Day to resort to using a "spell" to get one. I don't remember which girl did it, but one of them recorded Phoebe's voice. The producers never went into it, but I find it kind of suspicious why the girl would do that. In my mind, you would have to suspect Phoebe of having some power, to even think of recording her reading the spell back. And since when did Phoebe get this power to write spells? The writers didn't ease into it like they do everything else, just one episode she all of a sudden has the ability to write her own spells. I laughed so hard when they did the spell in the club and all the people turned into animals and Piper says, "I don't have the permits for this party!" Gotta love the humor of good ole Piper! "Awakened"

Description: "Piper contracts a life threatening tropical virus that leaves her in intensive care and on the brink of death. To try to save her life, Prue and Phoebe cast an 'awakening' spell, however, since the spell was used for personal gain, the sisters can no longer sleep, and Piper's sickness spreads into an epidemic as a direct consequence. Prue quits her job at Bucklands, and Phoebe enrolls in a University."

To me, this is one of the most emotional episodes in the whole series. I'm a huge Piper fan and she's my favorite character, so to see the sisters almost torn apart so tragically I didn't stop crying from beginning to end. I think this moment in their lives also brought the Halliwell sisters closer together, as they saw how it would be like if they were to almost lose a sister. Prue and Phoebe were willing to do whatever it took to save Piper, screw the consequences. My favorite quote in this episode is, "So let her be upset with us, but at least she'll be alive!" But I don't remember who said it. I don't blame Piper for not wanting them to contact Leo, because she's just starting to get used to not seeing him and opening up old wounds, so to bring him back would be difficult for both of them. But I'm glad that Prue and Phoebe went behind her back and contacted him anyway, because I was really starting to miss him. I found it very sweet that Leo was willing to save her no matter what the elders did to him. Even clipped his wings, as Leo revealed to Piper at the end of the episode. I was proud of Piper that she was willing to die in order to save all those innocent people who had gotten infected with Arroyo Fever because of their spell backfiring. It takes someone really brave to do that, I'm sure most of us wouldn't even be able to make that decision. But now that Leo has his wings clipped hopefully Piper will give him another chance. I'm not going to give anything away you guys but I will say this, you won't have to wait long! ;) I felt a little bit bad for Dan though (I know shocker! right?) when Piper woke up out of her coma after Leo healed her and called out Leo's name. It's sucks to be the third wheel in a love triangle, but as Dan will soon learn, you don't mess with destiny. "May the power of three set you three!" Keep reading and watching!

"Reckless Abandon"

Description: "The sisters must find a way to vanquish a ghost who is intent on killing all of the men in a family line, including the last male, a baby."

This episode was an important lesson for the Charmed ones, in the fact that they learned they were not quite ready to be mothers. Even though each of them realized that in the future they would love to have kids and they would be good at it. Again back to the Dan and Piper relationship (as long fans of this blog will know I'm against and totally for the Piper and Leo relationship instead), although Dan might be good with babies and seem like the perfect man, as everyone will soon learn you don't mess with destiny. What gives me hope though, is Piper keeps bringing up the future she once saw between her and Leo and comparing that between her and Dan. That's a good sign in my eyes. The sister that seemed the most at ease with baby Matthew was Phoebe. It's almost like she was born with a natural instinct for mothering. I think all the sisters possess that, but at first Phoebe was the only one that embraced it. I found it hard to pick a side between the ghost and the family he was killing off. Usually I would normally side with the victims, but Elias Lundy was a victim too. It was Martha's husband who killed him in the first place. I'm not condoning killing the whole family, especially the little baby, he could have stopped at the husband and left it at that since he was the one who killed Elias. I did feel bad for the ghost though. I think Daryl is starting to feel the pressure of working with the girls, because now it's starting to effect his job personally. I think the girls should use him as a good resource, but then again I don't think Daryl gets enough credit for all the work he actually does for them. "May the power of three set you free!"
